BURNED LANDSCAPE

DECHEM presents Burned Landscape, an experimental exploration at the intersection of fire, glass, and drawing. In this work, molten glass is pulled directly from the furnace and drawn across sheets of paper. The searing heat scorches the surface, leaving behind charred marks that unfold like abstract landscapes.

Each gesture becomes both destructive and creative—the burning transforms into a form of mark-making, where flame and material collaborate to sketch new horizons. Within the studio, every member of the Dechem team contributed their own interpretation, translating personal emotion into imagery forged through fire.

This experimental process also inspired a new variation of the Bandaska vase, where similar effects were reimagined in glass form. Burned Landscape thus becomes not only an artwork, but a method of storytelling—where glass, fire, and surface together reveal beauty born of intensity, chance, and transformation.
